Later: I take it back. Mello/Mikami has already been beaten. By Watari/Mikami. Seriously, just picture that for a moment. Just for a moment.

Oh my gosh, I've seen some WEIRD pairings. Now, I like to think that, if well-written, a fanfic can theoretically take on any plot line. But some pairings make me scratch my head. Like... Soichiro/Mello. Man.

Obviously, I'm a big L/Light fan because I think it makes sense. I also think any fic involving Light seducing/manipulating someone can be in-character. Some pairings are really hard to judge since the characters in question haven't actually met in series. One popular example that I see is L/Naomi, though L really only spoke to Naomi through a computer. Or Mikami/Light, who didn't meet until the series finale, but that one is a bit more believable. And open to a lot of creativity. I've read fics with both Light and Mikami being the dominant ones, I've read fics where Mikami "worships" Light or Mikami wants to "punish" Light for deceiving him...

Yeah, I agree though, excuse my babbling. Go fandom! XD

*laughs* Yeah. I'm a strong believer in the philosophy of "Write whatever pairing you want, just do it well." And it helps that I come from the Yuugiou fandom, where everyone has been shipped with everyone else. (Trust me on this.)

Soichiro/Mello? What...god damnit this is why you don't let me near crack pairings. I want write that now. (I have an insane, insane weakness for crack pairings. I was reading a Light's Mom/L fic - you probably know the one - and the author said something about how it was the most impossible pairing in the fandom, and my first thought was, "Is that a challenge, madam?" )

Ditto for the Light pairings. I tend to think that Light will use anyone he can, in whatever way is most efficient - but the only one that he couldn't use was L. And that is why the only one he wants, is L. I like Mikami fics - there aren't enough of them, you know - but I really like Mikami. And having him get all fanboy over Light is...cute.

Na, babbling's fine. Goodness knows I do it enough. Besides, your babblings are always interesting. *smile*

Haha, yeah, I've definitely seen fandoms where you basically have Everyone x Everyone (and then some). It can be amusing or disturbing, depending on the author.

Haha, yeah, I assume you mean Kids by SunMoonandSpoon? XD I actually adore that fic! She said that she wanted to pick the most cracky pairing she could think of and write a fic for it... and somehow it ended up being serious and plausible. lol

As for Light, yeah, I definitely think as Kira he will do what he can to get what he needs (and I'm not talking about sexual pleasure, since he never actually shows sexual interest in the show aside from with L). What I like about L/Light.. okay, I could go on forever with that one, but their canon relationship revolves around trying to get into the other's head, trying to know them for the purposes of destroying them. I don't know if you've read the book Ender's Game but there's one part that sticks out to me, something Ender says about someone he killed. It was that, before he killed this character, he truly knew them, and when you truly know someone it's impossible not to love them. And I see the L/Light relationship as a twisted but still genuine love, but nothing that negates the fact that they want to destroy each other. Which of course makes in unique from the fact that they will both "seduce" others (Light probably taking that concept more literally than L) and manipulate them - but they can't manipulate each other.

I adore Mikami. XD I read one jaw dropping Mikami/Light fic that just made me love the pairing (but of course, Light is still "using" Mikami). I want to write one someday soon, if I find inspiration for plotline.

For what it's worth, in a game of "Who Can Find the Crackiest Pairings", I doubt I could really do much to match some of the stuff you've pulled out of the YGO fandom.

That place ain't right...
