Oh my gosh, I've seen some WEIRD pairings. Now, I like to think that, if well-written, a fanfic can theoretically take on any plot line. But some pairings make me scratch my head. Like... Soichiro/Mello. Man.
Obviously, I'm a big L/Light fan because I think it makes sense. I also think any fic involving Light seducing/manipulating someone can be in-character. Some pairings are really hard to judge since the characters in question haven't actually met in series. One popular example that I see is L/Naomi, though L really only spoke to Naomi through a computer. Or Mikami/Light, who didn't meet until the series finale, but that one is a bit more believable. And open to a lot of creativity. I've read fics with both Light and Mikami being the dominant ones, I've read fics where Mikami "worships" Light or Mikami wants to "punish" Light for deceiving him...
