Now, everyone who is familiar with Death Note either knows or will soon about the Xantos Roulette of Light's that leads up to That Which Shall Not Be Spoiled. In the series itself, this plan worked out without a hitch. Almost suspiciously so. So, between me and [profile] saint_archie, we came up with a list of places that it could have gone wrong. (If nothing else, slowed it down quite a bit.)

Credit for these is split between Arch and I. Some of them have commentary, some don't. And all are, of course, spoilerific

Okay. Figured I'd make a quick update. *waves at her small readership, Serria in particular since Arch already knows about these*

I've got two Death Note fics in the works. (Besides Snow.) One is mostly done, I just need to type it and fix a few sections. The other is...difficult.

Mostly done one is The Seven Deadly Sins as seen in Light Yagami. The idea interests me, because Light is obsessed with how perfect he is, how he's God. And it's DN, so, Irony abounds - so I decided to write some ficlets showing how he exhibits the seven traditional sins. I've gotten most of them done, I just need to find some scenes to set Greed and Lust in - they're second arc, and I'm not as familiar with it. *is working on it now*

And the other...well, it's my personal contribution to the genre I like to call, "He's not really dead, goddamn it!" (Anyone in the series knows what I mean.) I'm hoping that it's a different sort of story than most in there, but it's hard to figure out how to do it. Outsmarting Light is HARD. It's been tough figuring that one out...I have talked about it to many people, 'cause I kinda wanted to keep it a secret, but since I'm stuck I'll at least mention it.

So yes. That, plus a few original things, are what I'm working on now.

This is a ficlet I started a few months ago, left alone, and then finished this past week. I've put off posting it because I'm really unsure about Light's characterization, especially at the end. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Title: Snow

Type: Ficlet

Rating: PG

Timing: Handcuff arc.

Pairing: None

Spoilers: Through Handcuff arc

Fic: Snow )

Like I said, Light's kinda iffy...Serria (I constantly misspell your name, you know...), you're good with him. Any advice?

Anyone here remember Justice? That Death Note Good!Light!AU from a while back that was talked about, posted a bit of, and then never heard from again?

Well, I don't have what happens next chronologically. Still.

I do, however, have the ending.

I have the ending and not what actually happens after the start because I don't know what happens next. I will fix this at some undetermined point in the future.

But still. The ending. Here it is. Only written...*looks at clock* Maybe an hour ago. Almost completely unchanged except for a few spelling fixes (not all that it needs, though...) and one line I was going to add at first and forgot.

If you want to read Justice in order and don't want to read the ending before anything else, don't read this.
(Larger for emphasis)
Title:  Justice.

Timing: Second half, but exactly when I'm not sure.

Pairing: None

Rating: Pg 13ish

Spoilers: Whole Series, and the fic itself

*looks at it* I rather like it, myself...the things that just show up in my head and demand I write them down generally turn out well.

1.  Iz snowing, so I don't have musical rehearsal tonight. I am both relieved and worried. We start performing in a week and a half. We haven't made any props or practiced cues. Eep.

2. Spent most of today working on the outline for that novel I swear I'm going to finish and my friends refuse to stop poking me until I do. My inspiration goes in phases - I'm coming off of a fanfiction kick and will now work on original stuffs. After I  finish those drabbles.

Okay, here's that fic. I rather like it, actually. It's a lot better now. *nods* I'm sure there are things wrong with it, but oh well. If you have suggestions, tell me please.

Title: Spirit

Rating: PG13 to be safe

Pairing: Mild L/Light

Spoilers: Whole Series. L's name, Birthday, and series end in particular.

I'm thinking of adding another scene or two at the end, but I like this ending, so...Yeah. Will have to think about that.

I spent a good twenty minutes in discussion on what Light and L's hand dominances are, and the potential symbolic significance thereof. I am now considering organizing my thoughts into an lj post/essay.

...God that's so geeky.

*sigh* Ah well.

Yeah, this is that fic I talked about last post. This is the very first draft, and thus probably doesn't make a lot of sense. I fixed a few things as I was typing, but  not much. I switch tenses a few times, but the parts in past tense don't sound good in present, and the parts in present don't sound good in past. I don't know what to do...

Anyway. The draft.

Title: I have no idea.

Rating: PG13 to be safe

Pairing: Mild L/Light

Spoilers: Whole series, L's name, birthday, and series end in particular

Warnings: Slash, first draft, probably doesn't make much sense, odd style.

So yes. Point out what doesn't make sense and possibly how to fix the tense problem. (I wouldn't mind...) I'll edit it and post a better version.. later. Sometime.

This is that AU - or at least the start of it - that I was talking about last post. Now, before I start it, I have a few words, just as a preface of sorts.

Now, it is only fair and right to, when writing and especially when writing fanfiction, try to keep your own philosophical opinions out of the story as much as possible unless they fit in with the source material. That's just good writing, and in most series it's not that much of an issue. However, in DN it is near impossible to keep your philosophical opinions out of it, because with I suspect that part of the point of the series was to get people thinking about right and wrong and such. There's no way to keep your philosophy out of it, because the series is about philosophy.  Thus, I won't really bother trying.  So, yes, I will write this according to my philosophy and my understanding of right and wrong. All of you reading this may not agree with it, but I cannot write it according to anyone's understanding but my own.

...I hope that makes sense.

Anyway, on to the fic.

Title: at the moment, Justice.

Timing: Second half, but exactly when I'm not sure.

Pairing: None, maybe implied Light/L. Maybe.

Rating: I'm not sure. Probably no higher than pg-13, though.

...Yea, can you tell that this is a new idea in my head? It's very rough....It'll get polished more once I've heard y'all's opinion on it.

Well, I haven't typed up any fics to post in here, yet. I'll try to get some of that Death Note au  (that needs a name) typed tonight, though.

*thinks*  I'll talk about that for a moment, then.

A week or so ago, I finally got around to reading the very end of the Death Note manga. This involved a some "Squee!", some "Nooooo!", and lots of "WTF? Light you're supposed to be smarter than that damn it!" *grumbles*

Afterwards, I was talking with my dear friend Archie about how neither of us particularly like Near, and how he's not as good as L. So I asked who would be, and Archie responded, "Good!Light." My fanficcing brain instantly thought, "I must write that."

So I am.

Keep in mind, this is Good!Light, not Amnesia!Light, and takes place after That Which Shall Not Be Spoiled. Probably well into the second half, though.

Talk more after I've actually typed and posted some of the thing, though.
