The quasi-rebirth of a long-neglected fic

Anyone here remember Justice? That Death Note Good!Light!AU from a while back that was talked about, posted a bit of, and then never heard from again?
Well, I don't have what happens next chronologically. Still.
I do, however, have the ending.
I have the ending and not what actually happens after the start because I don't know what happens next. I will fix this at some undetermined point in the future.
But still. The ending. Here it is. Only written...*looks at clock* Maybe an hour ago. Almost completely unchanged except for a few spelling fixes (not all that it needs, though...) and one line I was going to add at first and forgot.
If you want to read Justice in order and don't want to read the ending before anything else, don't read this.
(Larger for emphasis)
Title: Justice.
Timing: Second half, but exactly when I'm not sure.
Pairing: None
Rating: Pg 13ish
Spoilers: Whole Series, and the fic itself
*looks at it* I rather like it, myself...the things that just show up in my head and demand I write them down generally turn out well.

It's in the middle of a speech - he's become quite the Anti-Kira activist, much to Ryuk's amusement - and the Kira worshipers are protesting, fighting, demanding he stop and admit Kira's lordship. It amuses him in the ironic sort of way that things do, and he doesn't mind. It's nice to know that his worshipers follow him even after he's stepped down.
They've demanded to know why he hasn't struck down, why the wrath of Kira hasn't destroyed his greatest blasphmer yet - even though that title isn't his, never will be, that's L's and will be for the rest of time - and it makes him chuckle when he hears it, when Mikami demands to know why, and eventually he finds somewhere he private and throws his head back and laughs, laughs until realizes that people can hear him and he quiets himself.
He's reaching the cresendo of his speech, the climax, the turning point of everything, when he suddenly hears Ryuk laugh, and a bullet flies out from the crowd and into his chest. He looks down - bloods seeping out of his chest, his shirt is ruined and god, it should hurt more shouldn't it? People scream, someone with a gun rushes to the front of the crowd and screams,
"This is for justice! This is for Kira! This is for the good of the world!"
And suddenly it's all just so hiliarious and funny; Light's laughing and his knees give out but he can't tell if it's from bloodloss or because he's laughing so hard and for the first time he's not afraid of death because none of it mattered and god, Ryuk's probably so jealous that he didn't get the chance first.
He knows that his killer is staring, distrubed, disblieving but it doesn't matter. Light is dying, a god is dying, a world balanced on pen-point and notebook paper is falling and no one ever knew. Light knows he's dying, the blood flowing too fast to be stopped and it never mattered after all. No matter what he did, it never mattered.
He falls to his side, and wonders if the visions - his father, his sister, his L - are real or if just the deliusions of a frantic mind, but it doesn't matter, so he whispers,
"Funny how these things turn out, isn't it Lawliet?"
He doesn't know if the mike's still on, he doesn't care, he's dying and it never mattered.
"It never mattered after all..."
And then he sees pale lips and dark eyes smile, and he smiles back - no words are needed, they never were and he was really the only person who understood anything - and blood keeps flowing and he can't hear the crowd, can't hear them shouting, can't hear a thing over the clink of handcuffs and his own slowing pulse.
Light Yagami - the perfect, the special, the amazing, the God - dies.
