QUESTIONS

Why do you dislike #11 so much? – Roy/Ed - FMA

I don’t dislike it, so as much as it doesn’t click for me. I can see why other people ship them, but I can’t see them. At all. Maybe I ship Roy/Hawkeye too strongly – besides, I, for some reason, have a hard time seeing Ed in any romantic situation. Some characters I can and some I can’t – and Ed, I can’t. Maybe he’s too young, or feels too young. Come to think of it, I can’t ship Ed with anyone except maybe Ling or Winry… It’s the fandom’s otp, but I can’t do it.

Who is someone you know that ships #14? – Pride/Kimbley - FMA

No one. No one shares any of my stranger FMA ships. (If anyone knows fic for this, I will love you forever. For realz.) I have a very lonely fleet of FMA ships.

What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3? Father/Hohenheim – FMA

Well, they’re such a dysfunctional pair it’s hard to say if an ideal is even possible to imagine… But, if I had my way, I think Father would give up his crazy plan and Hohenheim would reveal that he’d been trying to find a way to turn them both into normal humans. Father would look at him all wtf and realize that Hohenheim really did care about him even after everything he’s done. And that’s about when it ends because as soon as anyone else clued in Angst would occur, and possibly murder.

Which is your favorite moment for couple #1? L/Light – Death Note

Probably the bit s where they think in stereo. It’s quite fun to watch. *nod* But it’s hard to decide…they’ve got such a dynamic.

How long have you been following couple #6? YnY/YnB - YGO

…five years or so. It’s my sexy otp – makes no sense, completely noncanonical, but damn it it’s hot. Especially with chains involved.  *nod nod* And I don’t pretend otherwise, so.

What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring? Scar/Kimbley – FMA

Nothing in particular. I never had anything emotional invested in the pairing, so I just sort of wandered off to ship them with other people. I still love both characters, but I’m not sure they would ever end up with anything other than grudging respect at the absolute best. And while Kimbley is pretty enough for me to not care about canonical viability, Scar isn’t quite. (Sorry Scar.) Still, was fun for the dysfunction and I like enemies having to work together.  But it doesn’t quite click anymore.

You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12 Kaiba/Jou – YGO or Mello/Near – DN

Well, their respective fandoms will kill me either way… Hmm. Probably. Well. Kaiba/Jou, I think. Not because it offends me more or something – but it ‘s so  assumed and that annoys me. Kaiba is always  with Jou, and that’s just how it is. It’d be more interesting if they had to write something else for a change. But really, I’d go with neither – ship what thou wilt.

Which ship do you prefer, #2 or #4? YnY/Kaiba – YGO or Pride/Wrath – FMA

For what? I’m emotionally invested in YnY/Kaiba, and I think it would work out better. I like the inspiration, the challenge of it. But I like the fucked up dynamic and emotional confusion of Pride/Wrath. Different things for different moods.

What interests you about #14? Pride/Kimbley – FMA

The similar personalities, and just seeing them have to deal with each other. And the fact that, if my pet theory is correct, they’re going to have to deal with each other on rather close terms very soon. (I can always rock shared body pairings, even if some are over played.) And Pride pairings are too rare…

Why did you stop liking #7? YnM/YnY - YGO
No particular reason. I shipped it mostly for the pretty (I like my pretty dysfunctional. I can’t help it.) And then I got distracted by other ships and by the time I thought about again I realized it…sort of didn’t quite work and had found other dysfunctional pretty, so.

Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show? YnY/Malik – YGO
Nope, again, was shipping it for the pretty. It was never an otp, and losing interest was mostly just an, “Eh, okay, something more shiny over here…*wanders off*” deal.  I’d still like to see it work out, but it wasn’t my sole reason for watching it. (Hell, I knew it would never happen.)

What’s a song that reminds you of #5? Kira/Alexiel – Angel Sanctuary

If you could have any of these two pairings double-date, who would it be?

…Um. Maybe… Hmm. L/Mikami and YnY/YnB. Yami no Yuugi would have fun playing games of logic with L – and Yami no Bakura would flirt with Mikami endlessly just to rile the man. *shrug* I don’t know?  The idea of a double date has always seemed horribly awkward…but then again, so does dating in general.

Have #2 kissed yet? YnY/Kaiba – YGO   
No, and probably won’t. *glares in general direction of YGO ending.* But – in a nearby fanfiction…*grin*

Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely? Pride/Wrath – FMA

No, I can’t see that ending well. For anyone. To say nothing of Mrs. Bradley. (the poor woman.) And they’re both likely to die. Still, I can dream that it might not end up horribly depressing.  Mind you, the mindfuck is part of the appeal…

What would make you start shipping #13? L/Mikami - DN
Hmm. Not sure. Good fic, obviously.  Might try to write it myself, sometime.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer, #2 or #6? YnY/Kaiba – YGO or YnY/YnB – YGO

OT3. Enough said.  *grin*  But really, it’d have to be YnY/Kaiba.  If nothing else, they’re more likely to work out and not kill each other in the process. Still, they tend to end up as an ot3 in my head, no matter what I do – I can’t have YnY/Kaiba without YnB wandering into the frame, and Kaiba tends to find his way in whenever YnY and YnB get together. But if I had to choose… YnY/Kaiba.

They sort out all of their complicated emotional shit and calm the fuck down, eventually getting along. What? I think they’d kill each other, or at least cause serious emotional trauma. But I’m not evil enough to wish it on them.

Which of these ships do you love the most?

….I have no idea. Really. YnY/Kaiba and YnY/YnB are my oldest and my dearest, but there are others that are currently more interesting and new. I have no idea. I don’t even know which one ranks highest right now.  Probably Pride/Wrath, though fuck if I know why.

I never really got into this pairing either. They're usually one/fourth of what some have dubbed the "Classic Foursome" of YGO fic (Aka Kaiba/Jou and Yuugi, Marik, and Bakura with their respective dark half) and fandom usually mangles their dynamic whether it's romantic or not by exaggerating Kaiba's supposed hatred of Jou when, in fact, it was usually Jou that was throwing the first punch at the guy. :/

Ah, I miss Yuugioh fandom.

Yeah...I mean, I can see it working. Not gently, and certainly not very romantically, but I can see it working. It'd just be miserable and angry until the two of them stopped being stupid.

And Kaiba doesn't hate Jou. He loathes him, mocks him - but Kaiba's hate is saved for more important people.

It's funny, but that's my main reservation about the pairing -- that I think Kaiba doesn't respect or consider Jounouchi important enough to hate! This possible says more about just how fucked up Kaiba is than anything else (lol).

I’m absurdly pleased that you listed Yami no Yugi/Kaiba as one of your favorite ships ^__^

I liked the question on which you prefer, YnY/Kaiba or Pride/Wrath – mainly because I tend to think of YnY/Kaiba (or anything/Kaiba) as a bit dysfunctional – then saw Pride/Wrath and all of a sudden, YnY/Kaiba looked very, very fluffy!

I agree on Roy/Ed btw. Considering I ship Kaiba, this may sound like an odd comment, but I just don’t see Ed as all that interested in sex, at least at this point in his life. Even his feelings for Winry seem more like kid stuff than man do I want to get laid. I also like Ed with Winry and/or Ling about equally too. With Ling there’s the extra bonus that he really seems to annoy Ed and a pissed off Ed = win in my book.

Roy’s probably my favorite character, but I see his and Ed’s relationships as having to many almost paternal notes to make it attractive. I think Roy sees a lot of his younger self – the one that went off to Ishavlan to commit genocide – in Ed, and I really like the way he’s very unsparing of Ed, but at the same time there’s a certain sympathy for his position.

Yeaaah. Pride/Wrath would be fucked up. Interesting, but gah the dysfunction. Which is, of course, a part of the appeal. But most things would be fluffy by comparison. Except for Pride/Kimbley, I suppose.

Ed and Kaiba...their brains work differently. And while Ed is very old for his age, he's not like Kaiba's is. And while Ed has been battered, he hasn't been twisted. And... Hmm. Ed's life has forced him to be a grown up kid. Kaiba's has forced him to be an adult. I think there's a difference there, and an important one. And besides - Kaiba is much more, ahem, physical. (And yes, Ling gets points.) Hmmz. We might have to discuss this sometime.

*nod* I'm the same way, mostly. Roy feels sorry for Ed. And, somewhere in Roy's mind, Ed will probably be that headstrong brat trying to look impressive. And that's not a place for romance to start, imo.

You really put your finger on the crucial difference there! Xparrot used to have a great icon of Kaiba and Ed arguing about who was the better big brother. But the different age difference I think also plays into it.

Oh, yes - and the age difference between the brothers. Kaiba is old enough that Mokuba has always been his responsibility and young enough to be a child. Ed and Al are close enough to almost be twins.
