Hi! I’m sorry! It says something about how frantically busy I’ve been trying to wrap things up before I left that I saw this, was really, really touched – it made my day to finally finish work one day at about midnight, check my email and realize you’d written this for me – and I literally haven’t had a moment to be able to respond.
I loved the picture of Roy about to take on the military without their realizing it, in the moment of his taking up the Eastern command. I could picture the steps instantly – they’re part of one of my favorite scenes when Roy and Ed sit on them in the rain after the episode where the girl gets turned into a chimera of her dog. And I could definitely see him timing his arrival to coincide with sunset for maximum drama and effect. He really does have that show-off side to his character. And of course I liked Riza slightly to his back (the better to protect him) and slightly to the side.
In the irony department, my new job is within a massive city bureaucracy, although, hopefully, not run by homoculi.
