Wow, I actually thought this was quite beautiful. I really liked how you opened it - it was a connection I hadn't even thought of, but surely L would see something like snow as an inconvenience. It does "slow things down" and L values efficiency. I see L as really a more mechanical, practical person. Light, on the other hand, is more poetic, idealistic and even a daydreamer - he'd have to be if he thought he could play the hero and change the world as Kira. He's given up his memories in this fic, and I think you did a great job in portraying him as more "pure". He still has his grievances, and I particularly liked the line about how snow helps him believe that the world is good and beautiful. It's almost sweet, though at the same time, is a hint of something currently latent in Light's personality that could become Kira. And then bam, L, ever the rational, dismisses that by saying it covers things up and gets in the way. That really seems to be the brunt of their characters.
