So I'm home.
Dec. 29th, 2011 12:01 pmMy grandmother died at 12:25 Christmas morning.
We didn't make it in time. We arrived a little before four that morning.
We stayed a couple of days, hung out with my aunts and uncle and ate too much food, including some Incredibly Awkawrd Dinners because my mom's family is equal parts snark and awkward.
There was no funeral. She was 96, all of her friends were dead and it wouldn't help the kids. She will be cremated, and in the spring her husband's ashes will be mixed and they will be poured in their favorite old fishing hole up north.
God, I'm tired. My mom is worse though. But all we can do is keep on walking.
