I am not good at campfires
Aug. 12th, 2011 09:01 pmAs I draft this, I'm sitting outside next to the fire I have spent six matches and a considerable amount of time building. Random bits of wood, dried grass, and two burned fingers later, I have a... well, a firelet, I suppose.
It's harder than it sounds, but I think I managed to build a fire this time! I've never actually done it without help before! See, my dad and my brothers were all Boy Scouts. (One brother joked that a campground was my father's natural habitat) so I've grown up around fires, but being the youngest and only girl, I never got a lot of experience building one. Usually about five minutes in my father would go, "...you are doing it wrong." and take over.
But I managed it this time! Lasted twenty minutes until I put it out. *is pretty stoked*
I've always loved fire, see. If I'm akin to any of the traditional elemental set, it's fire. (It's also my favorite pokemon type, with steel and dark.) I love fire and I love the smell of smoke - that's comfort to me, woodsmoke - and it's probably why I like incense. And it has to be woodfires - my mom sometimes talks about gas fireplaces and that's just missing the point, for me. I'm going to smell like like smoke for a couple of hours, and I'm okay with that.
