I don't mean to evesdrop...
Mar. 15th, 2009 02:46 pmI don't like crowds.
It's impossible for me to focus in a crowd. There's too much energy, too many people. Too many snippets of conversations that make no sense, but I can't ignore.
Sometimes, though, the noise, all the words blend together into a hum. I like that. I can deal with the hum. It's generic, elemental - no individual facet or words. It's just noise, like the gulls on the shore or the wind roaring through the trees. There's nothing to catch the attention of my fickle mind - just a gestalt mass of sound.
That I can deal with. That, I can block out and focus on what I want to, without my mind latching onto cut-out pieces of other people's lives.
Still, I don't like crowds. I hear too much.
