That DN meme that's going around...

01. The first character I fell in love with:
Light. Easy. He's brilliant and clever and he's just so much fun to watch. I remember the first time I read the beginning... I was entranced. His nature and his opening conflict - do I stay good and let other people suffer? Do I become a monster to stop monsters? Or am I a monster because I do nothing? - and what he decides and becomes echoed and still echo in my mind. He is one of the most vivid, complex, and simply facinating characters I have ever seen.
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Hmm....probably the entire NPA team, really. First time through I barely noticed they were there. All of the characters other than L, Light, Soichiro, and Misa, and Mikami were just blurs on the sideline for me. (Misa would have been, but she showed up too much) Then I started thinking, and rereading, and realized how sympathetic they to me. The team is the face of normal humanity in this mess of justice and obsession and the power of death. If Light shows how the best of all can fall, then the NPA shows the strength of men who aren't geniuses, aren't obsessed - the people a little more like us.
03. The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
I don't know, really. I'm remarkably tolerant of characters, really, and I don't hate any particular character. If I had to pick a character I'm indifferent to that everyone loves, it's probably Near. Near is just...blank. I've mentioned this before - I literally can't get into his head. I could be trying to read the Marinaria Trench for all I know about him. Plus he's just not the best character in general - he pulls off all these crazy guesses while trying to be like L, and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth when he's right. (Seriously, he figured out who Mikami was...how?) Basically, Near gets lucky while L was just that good. And when he says he and Mello surpassed L...um, no.
04. The character I love that everyone else hates:
I have no idea. I don't know who everyone else hates. Matsuda, probably, because he's not just a stupid puppy dog dork, damn it. He's probably the most normal person in this thing.
05. The character I would sleep with anytime:
Well, I'm bordering on asexual, so I don't know. If it's just a one-time fling, probably Light. God knows the boy would know what he's doing. Besides, those cuffs would be *handy*. Mikami I would be more concerned with cuddling and giving cookies too. Namikawa might be appealing, though.
.
06. The character I’d want to be like:
To an extent, Soichiro. I want to care about justice that much, but be able to keep my strength and purity. I want to be able to say that I do not hate the criminal I'm trying to catch, that I pity him for his power. I want to keep fighting when I know it might kill me. He can keep the overwork and the denseness, though.
07. The character I’d slap:
None, I don't think. Like I said, I'm pretty tolerant of characters.
08. Favourite character:
Light, for the reasons above.
09. Five favourite characters:
*thinks* Light, L, Mikami, Soichiro, Watari
10. Five least favourite characters:
...umm... Rinder, I guess, because I never remember she exists. Takada because how she acts and is portrayed makes my feminist!senses snarl. (Seriously, she's supposedly smart and passionate about justice and all we hear about is how frigid she is and how she falls for Light like a rock. Please.) Near because he's a freaking computer program. That's all, I think.
11. Character I am most like:
Light with tinges of Mikami. I am litterally almost exactly like Light except I don't have his genius and I'm not so concerned with lying to people.(I'm also stridenly anti-death pentalty, mostly because I read this series and thought about it) But his arrogance, his justice, his determination to do something, *anything* to help this world, his bordem with normal society, his burning desire to do something important and *special*... It's like a mirror. That's why he's so facinating - I look at him and see myself more extreme. I've always been one for self-reflection, but it's amazing to see it in a character. And the Mikami bits are the tinges of OCD I have and how I was always the one rescuing the class whipping boy, or letting people know about mean pranks that would be pulled on them, or just phsycially standing in between a popular bully and his victim.
12. DEEP DARK SECRET REGARDING THIS FANDOM:
Watari is Zombie!Hitler. And L is Batman. (Tell me it doesn't make sense.)
13. A pairing (or more!) I love:
L/Light is my OTP, easy. It's complicated to explain, but to me, they are as close to real soulmates anyone can get. And they are so obsessed with each other, it's hard to see them being that passionate about anyone else. No one is ever going to get under Light's skin like L did, and no one is ever going to through L as off-balance as Light did. They'll just shrug off anyone else, but they can never forget each other. Besides, they think in stereo before they even meet.
I like Light/Mikami, though it's depressing and manipulative. I've got this odd thing for the guys with religious mania. And I have a slight itch for L/Mikami, though I suspect Mikami would explode upon seeing L.
14. A pairing (or more!) I despise:
None. Ship what though wilt. Mello/Near bores me to tears, but that's me. There have been wonderful almost-canon pairings that I don't read because they bore me. My creed is - if you can keep it IC, make it interesting, and write it well, then go for it.
15. Five favourite things about the fandom:
1. The brilliant, brilliant writing. I have seen better writing in this fandom than any other, and I LOVE it.
2. The Crack. Oh god, the crack. I love reading crack and writing crack, and this fandom is so fantastic for it.
3. I love how this series makes me think! I love thinking and working things out and philosophy - and it doesn't get much better than DN.
4. The people are great. *hugs her flisty*
5. The dub makes me laugh? I don't know...
16. Five least favourite things about the fandom:
1. Bashers. Of course.
2.People who miss the bloody point of the series. It is not fluffy, goddamn it.
3. OOC.
4. People that think I'm a serial killer because I like Light and the series in general.
5. ...I don't know?
