A bit of a shorter section this time. Thor checks up on his brother and isn't very good at it, and the destiny trio are made out of ot3.

Thor balanced the dish in one hand and knocked on his brother’s door. It was, of course, entirely possible that Loki would try and ignore him, but after the time Thor camped out in front of his door for six hours, Loki had stopped trying that method.

He’d answer the door. Eventually.

A few minutes later the door swung open, seemingly under its own power. The thoughtless display of magic almost made Thor smile – it was common, when his brother was caught up in research, for him to not even get up from his books to answer the door.

“Brother,” he called out, inching into the room, “I have some of the choicest meats from dinner; the servants put them aside for you…”

There was no reply, but also no spells aimed at him in annoyance, so Thor stepped fully into his brother’s rooms. They were in uncommon disarray, as much as books being left out of bookcases, some even left flipped open, could be called “disarray”. Thor shrugged – nearly sloshing the mead all over the books – and continued forward.

He found Loki at his desk, glaring at Thor. Thor ignored it – if Loki wanted him gone, then Thor would be on fire by now. Loki was surrounded by tomes and pages covered with his neat handwriting. Thor didn’t bother trying to read any of them – just because he could read it didn’t mean he would understand any of it. His brother was fond of both difficult magic *and* ciphers. The all tongue could only do so much.

He set the dish in front of his brother, barely noticing the papers that were covered or scrunched. The meat went nearby. “Have you eaten yet, brother?” No reply. His brother looked a bit pale, a bit tired, his hair wild. “The guests were asking after you.”

The garnered a reaction. Loki snorted, pushing his bangs back from his face. “Were they?” Loki made no move towards the food, but neither to rescue his trapped notes.

“Yes, the boy, Sora.” Thor frowned – should he mention the comment on Loki’s appearance? No, Loki would only take it as an insult… even if, looking again, Loki’s expression was tighter and more tired than he expected. “Brother, eat something. The servants prepared it especially for you.”

Loki snorted again, standing suddenly and walking away from his desk. “Give it to the dogs. I am not hungry.”

Thor frowned deeper, following. “Does something trouble you, brother?” He rested a hand on Loki’s shoulder, not surprised but hurt nonetheless when Loki shrugged it off. “You look weary.”

Loki turned, met his gaze for a long moment. His mouth opened to take a breath, as if he were about to speak – then his mouth shut again and he shook his head, dislodging his normally immaculate bangs once more.

“No.” He finally said. “It’s nothing.”

Sora bounded into their shared room. They’d been given separate rooms, but they’d all looked at each other and did that cool thing where they all know what the others are thinking.

They picked Riku’s room, because he got the biggest bed.

“The feast was awesome! There was like an ENTIRE COW and one guy ate ALL of it and Thor told me about this war his dad was in and let me touch his hammer- Riku why are you laughing – OH SHUT UP.” Sora threw a pillow at him, which only made Riku laugh harder. And Kairi was laughing too, which was stupid because she had been there.

“Is his hammer big?” Riku asked, grinning, because he was a *horrible person*, and then Kairi curled up close to Riku and said,

“Don’t worry, I’m sure your hammer is bigger.”

….which kinda made both Riku and Sora turn red and sputter, because, *wow.*

Besides, it was probably true. Not that Sora was biased.

Riku wrapped an arm around Sora and let Kairi settle into his lap. “So there was a war? The darkness felt like it, a little bit.”

Kairi nodded, wrapping her arms around Riku’s chest. None of them like to let go of each other, still. “Yeah. Against the… Jotnar, I think they’re called.”

“Frost giants.” Sora supplied helpfully. “But Thor said they weren’t as big as the ice titan I fought.”

Riku hummed. Sora could feel it vibrating through his chest. Kairi continued, “Yeah. Thor said they attacked another world. Terrible blue monsters, he said.”

At that Riku sat up a bit, frowning. “Blue frost giants…”

Kairi nodded. Sora wasn’t sure what the connection was. “Yeah. Everybody said they were cruel and sneaky and monsters.”

Sora nodded, curling closer. “Sounded like they’re awful.”

Riku frowned. “Or people have said those things so many times they all believe it.”

Sora sat up. Riku noticed things like that. None of them liked why he noticed them, but Riku said he was going to use it regardless. Kairi frowned too.

“Riku, what was that darkness I felt? Do you think it’s connected?”

Sora gripped Riku’s arms. “Are they invading?”

Riku shook his head, causing a brief scuffle as his bangs hit Sora in the face. (“It’s only fair considering how often yours stab me.”)  “No, I think it’s… something else.” He settled back down on the pillows, and started to talk.
