Sometimes,

ktula and I are bored at our respective workplaces and we talk stories and come up with ideas. Some of these ideas either get turned into fic (such as the vampire au) or we want to do so (one day, burning man.) But some of them are in the range of "Well, it's cool as hell, but."

But I still keep the transcripts, because they're awesome and fun to reread. And I decided to post them here, because they're not quite real fics, but they are cool as hell.

(no subject)

ya know, the thing that annoys me the most about fandom pitting Finn and Kylo against each other in the Discourse (either in shipping or identification, you can only have one or the other) isn't just that it makes the fandom a less pleasant place to be, or that I (as someone who relates to and adores both of them) feel uncomfortable and vaguely guilty whenever the discourse crosses my dash.

it's that if I want to see any compare and contrast analysis for them, talking about mental illness or indoctrination or emotional abuse, that /doesn't/ end with one of them being the Correct resposne - if I want to see a fic that sets them against each other and forces them to learn and understand each other, shouting at each other about choice and destiny and freedom -

- I'm gonna have to write it my damn self.

on the redemption of kylo ren

I've spent a lot of time since watching TFA thinking about Kylo Ren. (I've spent most of my time going !!! and squeeing, and looking mournfully at all the merch I cannot afford, but, regardless.) And I know, the world hardly needs more villain fangirls, and there are so many fabulous characters in TFA that will probably not get enough attention. Surely, as an ethical and aware fandom participant, I should spend my time talking about Rey or Finn or Leia, instead of adding to the inevitable pile of discussion about Yet Another Grimdark White Boy.

And yet, and yet. My attention goes where it will, and there's a lot more going on than that. There's something /compelling/ about this boy to me, and I want to poke around in his brain. One of the main questions currently, considering his backstory, his behavior, and the patterns of Star Wars- will he get a redemption arc? And on the meta level - /should/ he?
