One of those "no i'm not dead" posts

Working after not having to for a while really messes with one's schedule.

I started Hunger Games, having found a cheap version and wanting to know the reason for the fuss. Initial reaction: "eh, but maybe." Katniss is better than a lot of heroines (having won me over rapidly by volunteering) but still kind of a sue.

Have had little time to write. Working on memes though.

however AVENGERS IS AWESOME OH GOD I NEED TO WRITE A LOKI REDEMPTION STORY. LIKE RIGHT NOW. because FEELINGS.

Have been binging on Thor and Avengers fic. There's so much! So much of it is so good! (Also, I ship everybody/everybody else in this fandom. It is an interesting change.) Only problem is AO3 going down like the damn place has a glass jaw during the evening.

I need to go make a massive rec post don't I, for all the many brilliant things I have read instead of doing my own writing and/or calculus...

HAPLESS QUEER AVENGERS. HAVE YOU READ IT? YOU SHOULD. IT IS FULL OF AWW AND PEOPLE BEING BAD AT EMOTIONS.

Also I ship most things in this fandom! Though Tony/Bruce is winning out slowly because sciencebro powers. (they should be bffs if nothing else.)

[identity profile] edmondia.livejournal.com 2012-06-09 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly it is not a bad idea! I have also been reading instead of writing. By a lot.

I have not! But now I shall look for it. Have you read any of Astolat's stuff for the fandom yet?

Huzzah for multishipping! Tony/Bruce is also one of my favorites, both as a ship and a bromance, because the sciencebro-ness, it is super-duper-ooper cute. To no one's shock, I also ship Thor/Loki like it is going out of style (but it's not) and I also approve of Natasha topping everybody because yes. I also enjoy all of the canon pairings as well because all of the wimminz, they are awesome.

it's not our fault there are so many shiny things to read, after all.

http://archiveofourown.org/series/15618

It is shiny and often updated and a bit like a soap opera of awesome. They are currently in a "holy shit loki's life has been kind of awful CAN WE FIX THIS BY PUNCHING PEOPLE. ..no? are you sure? ....PUNCH PEOPLE ANYWAY." kind of arc.

*investigates* I have, but did not note the username at the time! Will have to check out all the ones I had missed.

Thor/Loki is the reason I am in this whole fandom to begin with. (that and ao3's tags that let me go, "...you know what i want porn with biting in it, i can search for that right yes i can woooo.") Plus I just have a lot of Loki feelings okay.

I don't know, Jane sort of struck me as Designated Love Interest, so her and Thor, yeah, no. I mean it could work, but I'd take convincing.

Now, Natasha, yes please. In all varieties.

TY for link! I shall read it once I get through... what I'm currently reading. XD

I like that kind of arc!

How coincidental! It is also how I got here, although to be fair, my whole love affair with this fandom really got started with the Iron Man movies. Tony Stark, y so charming? Also I think everyone has a lot of Loki feelings. I think it has something to do with the huge sad eyes and the implied neglect/child abuse/really fucked up family dynamics in Thor, because srsly, I do not think I was the only one who jumped about a foot when Odin did his "HUUARGH" thing.

Jane is a bit Designated Love Interest-y, I agree, but then I stumbled across a review which pointed out that not only does the movie pass the Bechdel test, but a few things I hadn't really noted that much in the movie during the first viewing. (Female gaze? All the women wearing practical layers of clothing? The woman being the aggressor in the relationship? The woman being the intelligent half of the relationship? I like these things! I also like her supreme awkwardness and the fact that she ran him over twice.)

I like the Natasha/Clint implications in Avengers, (Tell us about Budapest, Joss. Preferably in the form of a movie about the two of them, please.) because they were cute and clearly fond of each other, but yes. All the Natasha. <3

was going to link earlier but forgot. part of why I love this fandom is because it keeps making things like this:
http://sketchlock.tumblr.com/tagged/SEALVENGERS

It is a fabulous kind of arc! Also incorporating all sorts of extended canon and the fact that Loki is kind of genderqueer anyway. (Loki makes a hot woman.)

I only watched Iron Man after Thor, but yes, Tony has that affect on people. (I also have a lot of feelings about Yinsen....and maybe half a fic in my head) And yes, all of those things
plus the deeply internalized racism (yes odin raise your son to hate frost giants WHEN HE IS ONE). And there is that and oh god the last scene. Who says that to their son in that situation.

Hurm. I was mostly distracted by the fact that it was very insta-romance, but yes, you're right. And yeah, she is the smart half - not that hard with thor, but still. (A great deal of the fandom is fond of Darcy's tazer. And Darcy in general, really)

Budapest is now a fandom-wide running joke, and this pleases me greatly. And I suspect that Natasha/Clint is some level of canon, but then again, a lot of things have been canon. (Yaaay, comics.) But she's hella hot so yeah, she can fuck whoever.

I like all the silly art! And the gifs! And the memes!

I approve of having half a fic in your head! I would approve more, however, of having a complete fic not in your head. Also yes, the "Odin's A+ Parenting" tag on AO3, it says so much, so succinctly.

It is an insta-romance, but three-day flings aren't that uncommon--they could just as easily settle into being close friends as anything else. (Darcy is pretty awesome and clearly a fandom stand-in. I cannot help but approve.)

Hella hot and awesome, I think you mean.

[identity profile] starsplinter.livejournal.com 2012-06-12 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
In my head Steve draws various ironmanimals and sticks them around the tower. Tony has no idea who's doing it because Steve Isn't Devious...right. (Also Tony suspects that Iron Manatee his a knock on his weight.)

I was totally going to write down the Yinsen fic that exists in my head but then I was thinking about you in conjunction with Thor and well what happened was 3k+ over two days of The Destiny Trio In Asgard.

I'm planning on blaming it on you.

Yeah I approve of thor+jane friendship. It occurs to me that Jane hasn't gotten enough love in the fandom. (though maybe I haven't looked) but she should round out the science triplet you know? tony bruce and jane sciencing it up all over the place. (And the fandom has taken advantage of this. It's pretty awesome. I particularly approve of "Darcy teaches Steve About The Present")

Badassery is very attractive, yes.
