artist steve!

He never drank before the Serum. He misses the chance, if nothing else.

He does pencil sketches, out of habit - no money for anything more elaborate when he was a child.

Now Tony buys him oils and canvas and horse-hair brushes and steve feels faintly guilty for using them.

He gets Tony back by drawing really really cute pictures of him and posting them online.

He wasn't sure how to post them, so Bruce helps, and sometimes gives him reference photos. (The one where Dummy is poking Tony with a blender is his favorite.)

Steve's drawn most of the team, but he doesn't keep any of them.

He gave Tony's portrait to Pepper (and refused Tony's offers to pose nude), gave Clint and Natasha's to each other. Bruce's was given to Tony who displayed it promently in the lab to mortify Bruce. Thor's he gave to Jane.

He didn't do one of himself and won't, no matter how Tony asks.

(He did another one, a little more unsteady, based on description and imagination and rushed memories of battle. He wasn't sure it worked, in the end - not sure he captured the likeness of a man he never really met and not the mad wreckage the man became. But he finished it, black and green, and wraps it up and tells Jane to give it Thor next time he she sees him.)

(The next time he sees Thor, he gets hugged so hard his ribs are briefly bruised.)

Sometimes Tony reminds him of his father. Sometimes, Tony reminds him of Bucky.

He loved - loves - Bucky more dearly than almost anyone.

Bucky was -is? - his best friend, his partner, his back up. Peggy is his inspiration, his warrior-goddess, maybe not really his but she could be -

He's not sure he could ever chose between them. (He's only a little grateful he never had to.)

All in all, he's glad he's in new century, even if he misses the old sometimes.
