Beat Reverse/Rebirth!

It was much more interesting than Sora's half, imo, but that may be bias.

..also, Ansem was like... easiest final boss ever.

And may Walt forgive me but I kind of ship Riku/Mickey now... even if it's just platonic bffery, they are like. So fucking cute it's ridiculous.

Also, Diz pretending to be Ansem is really kind of fucking hilarious now, retrospectively.

Yeah, but I'd already seen at least bits of Sora's story - having played through it some years ago until I got curbstomped by Marlu - while Riku's story was brand new to me. (I had no idea the whole "smelling darkness" thing was actually canon...)

Well he is kind of a douche yes, but I mostly just button smashed my way through, because Dark-skirt-Riku is well adapted for buttonsmashing. I didn't end up doing nearly as much level grinding as I expected.

Mickey is capable of making Riku twee, which was previously thought to be scientifically impossible. Also, Mickey is made for snuggling.

This series is so much fun to connect dots in!

Riku's story: endless rooms filled with heartless and nobody to talk to except the occasional person trying to coax him back to the dark side/kill him/mentor him once in a while, but rarely. Because his life just sucks that badly. Also, yes, you think fandom itself is batshit enough to make that up?

Riku's easy to fight with since you can button-mash. Boy hits like a mack truck. But the lack of healing is what always gets me murdered when I'm playing R/R.

I assume you're referring to the shy-smile-nose-rub-stare-at-his-feet-and-fidget type moments. I am pretty sure Mickey is the only being in the entire universe that Riku will act like that for.

Which is why we lurves it so!

I would still like to know when Riku went to Atlantica, tbh. Because fish!Riku would be hilarious. And yes... *looks askance at HP and YGO, her introductions to fandom* Yes, I think fandom is batshit enough to make up just about anything, really.

...but that's what the Mickey cards are for. Healing and being adorable.

My theory is that Mickey is so solidly in Riku's corner, even after everything, and Riku can't discount that. I mean, Sora he can ignore because Sora is a dork, and Kairi he can ignore because she's too sweet and slept through most of it anyway - but Mickey knows everything, knows how the darkness works, and still thinks Riku's going be okay. Idiot friends you can argue with, but how do you tell a *King* that he doesn't know what he's on about? So Riku kind of believes him and at the same time feels like he doesn't deserve it, and so he's like, "..guh."

..or he just has a thing for ears.

I tried to explain the whole Diz-Ansem-Xenohart thing to my mother. It was kind of difficult.

Pff, you know Riku's a shark. --and yet in this fandom Nomura still manages to outdo the fangirls. His is the most special-est brand of crack there is.

You have to be able to fetch the Mickey cards for that to work, alas. Riku might be speedy like ninja attack bunny but those dang cards are hard to chase after.

Pretty much! I am quite sure if Mickey were human Riku would have a terrible crush on him. Because yes.
